PFC #8: Spinning The Favorite

This month's PFC is hosted by Gracie of Radiator Session. I haven't had the pleasure of interacting with Gracie yet...so Gracie, if you're reading this I would like to say hi *waving hand frantically*. Although I've read the gist of this challenge weeks earlier, I was stumped and couldn't figure out what to do...

"...the challenge will be to take a 'go-to' outfit, put a spin on it by styling it in a different way but still keeping a couple of essential components."

So...yikes...a "go-to" outfit? I don't think I have one! I decided not to overthink this task and settled for a summer "go-to" outfit. Being a Socal girl, my quintessential summer wardrobe includes t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. It's not a favorite, but I guess it'll pass as a summer staple. :)

Here is plain jane me in the summer essentials mentioned above. Or should I say plain joe? I look like a sad little boy lol.

The transformation is nothing drastic. I wanted to keep the casual, laid-back look going but not so bum-like. I added a belt, long necklace, and traded flip flops for cute flats.

Top: Forever 21
Blazer (pictured below): H&M
Shorts: H&M
Belt: Hollister
Purse: Louis Vuitton
Necklace: Ann Taylor
Bracelets: H&M
Shoes: AGL

I was excited to find these shorts at H&M but if I'm being nitpicky then I guess the color is too matchy matchy with my skin tone. Wait until I spend one day at the beach, you won't be able to tell where the shorts end and where my legs begin lol.

And gosh, I love this blazer to death! I swear I wear it every other day (or more). Ahhhh must make a conscious effort not to reach for it so frequently. This is the first blazer I found that can be dressed up or down with ease so I'm seriously sprung. I'm thinking of getting a spare to wear for years to come.

I can't wait to see what the other ladies came up with! I'm sorry mine was so boring blehhh. Please go to Radiator Session to see the full list of participants.

This has definitely been a:

  1. Sunshine...looking cute and chic as usual. I like how your "bum" outfit is a "dressed up" outfit for me. Hahaha, hey, at least your flip flops aren't Rainbows the way mine are. ;D Love your AGL flats; I'm not a fan of flats, but I really like that color combo...and it's making me reconsider flats!

  2. I swear I've worn the exact same outfit before minus the belt & bag! haha so I'm a little biased when saying this, but I love your outfit ; )

  5. This look is classic, so that can never be boring :) I lol-ed at the color of your shorts matching your skin tone. When we want to find nude pumps that flatter us, we can't, but when we least expect it, you find it in shorts ;) Great job, Sunshine!

  9. Wow this truly proves that accessories add a magic touch to any outfit. It makes such a huge different with a belt, a purse, the shoes and a blazer.

  12. Great classic combo! Despite living in Socal for so long, I haven't enjoyed shorts as much as I do now. lol. I love how you dressed the casual staple into a dressy ensemble. =)

  13. the jacket made all the difference.

go west coast! but yeah...just not middle of LA. eeeh, i'm a socal girl, but i despise LA. I know that's where you're from right? how do you deal? is it normal now bc you live there? but then i've also heard ppl say SD is too laid back for them, but i think OC is way more chill and boring than SD if we have to compare, eh?

  15. Great outfit! I am looking for shorts just like the ones you are wearing! I also like your flats...so adorable! :D And, yes, if I were you and found a blazer that I loved, I would get a back-up, and a back-up of the back-up, and so on and so forth! =P

  17. I love the original outfit, but adding that gorgeous cobalt blue blazer just tied the bow for me too. Classy with a hint of comfort. I love love it... from the belt, to the necklace (which I am sooo eyeing) to the flats. Really well put together.

  18. Hello ladies,

Thank you soo sooo much for all your kind comments. I'm sorry for the late reply...it seems like I have zero downtime lately. :(

QFFS: I highly recommend the AGL flats. I first heard of them from Kat of Feather Factor. They're pretty pricey but so comfy and cute!

Elaine: That's my bf hehe... He's the one taking all the pix for me and I'm so grateful :)

Jo: I'm sorry but I got this blazer a couple of months back and didn't keep the tag :( H&M had in in store for months so maybe you'll have luck at one of the store?

Aubrey: West Coast ftw haha. I'm in the outerskirts of LA so I'm nowhere near all the craziness hehe. I actually like the fact that I'm not too near nor too far from all the excitement ;) I'm not a very big fan of OC except for all the yummy and cheap food lol. I've been to SD a few times but I haven't explored much of it. Definitely heading there again this summer and I hope to see more of your city! :)
